MARIE CLAIRE LAUNCHES MULTI-PLATFORM CAREERS INITIATIVE

October 4, 2012

Marie Claire, the premium fashion glossy, is launching ‘Marie Claire @work’, a multi-platform initiative to inspire its readers to achieve their career goals.

Marie Claire @work will include a bi-annual print supplement, channel on www.marieclaire.co.uk and a programme of careers events. Aimed at ambitious, professional women, Marie Claire @work builds on Marie Claire’s existing careers editorial and mentoring scheme, to give even greater focus to this key aspect of readers’ lives.

The first Marie Claire @work supplement is bound in to the November issue. A guide to career success, its 32-pages include workplace fashion and beauty tips, advice from top businesswomen, and findings from Marie Claire’s work survey. Advertisers include Banana Republic, Phase Eight, Warehouse, and Boden, and there are reader offers from Hobbs and Molton Brown.

The MC@work online channel provides visitors with regularly updated careers news and advice, as well as insight into the careers of Marie Claire’s inspirational mentors. Details of the upcoming Marie Claire @work events programme will also be promoted on the channel.

Marie Claire editor-in-chief Trish Halpin says: “Marie Claire readers want to think smart and look amazing. They are typical of the New Type A woman we found in research, wanting to excel in every area of their lives and career is a key priority. With Marie Claire @work, we’re expanding our efforts to help readers achieve their career ambitions and providing an inspirational resource.”

Justine Southall, Marie Claire publishing director, adds: “Launching Marie Claire @work gives us a real boost to our already impressive careers credentials. From advice in print and online to inspiring events and Marie Claire’s mentoring scheme, Marie Claire is the fashion magazine proving a sharp mind is the perfect accessory.”

In summer 2010, Marie Claire launched a mentoring scheme in partnership with The Prince’s Trust. Each year, a host of top businesswomen give their time and expertise to mentor Marie Claire readers, helping them to reach their potential.
