IPC CONNECT UNVEILS WWW.GOODTOKNOW.CO.UK

August 17, 2007

Goodtoknow IPC Connect, the leading publisher of women's weekly magazines in the UK, today unveils the beta launch of a major new digital development specifically targeting mainstream British women.

Unique in the online space, the launch of www.goodtoknow.co.uk marks the first phase in what will build to become the ultimate online community for mainstream women in Britain today. The site launches with three vertical content channels – health, diet and food – and will evolve in response to its users' requirements.

www.goodtoknow.co.uk publishing director Oswin Grady says: “We have done extensive research amongst these women over the last six months and have found that the internet has become an indispensable part of their lives. They are yet to alight on their preferred digital brands, but it is clear that the sites and services they gravitate towards offer very practical help, support and advice. Our vision for goodtoknow is that the site will ultimately connect these women to both professional experts and to each other as experience experts – to make their lives that little bit easier!”

UK mass market women are online in significant numbers – there are 8.5 million of them – and IPC Media already reaches 84% of this audience through its print brands alone.

Head of the creative development of www.goodtoknow.co.uk is award-winning Pick Me Up editor, June Smith-Sheppard. June says: “This has been a really exciting project to work on. Unlike magazines – which require up to two years to take to market – digital developments need to be much more fluid and agile. We're launching something that women will find genuinely useful right now, and the site will develop and grow rapidly in response to how these women use and engage with it.”

Evelyn Webster, managing director of IPC Connect, says: “Through the existing IPC portfolio we have unparalleled reach within this community of women and we intend to leverage that reach to drive traffic to goodtoknow.

“We're currently building out three content verticals – health, diet and food – reflecting the areas that often give this audience the greatest cause for concern! Over the coming months, goodtoknow will become an essential destination for the UK's heartland women who want to share common sense advice, tips and experience. Watch this space!”

In recent months IPC Media has launched a number of high profile online brands including www.instylemagazine.co.uk, www.housetohome.co.uk and www.shootinguk.co.uk.
