IPC WOMEN'S TITLES PROMOTE CANCER RESEARCH UK'S RACE FOR LIFE 2008 SERIES

March 13, 2008

MarieClaire.Apr08 Cancer Research UK is using IPC titles Marie Claire, Essentials, Woman and Woman's Own for its print campaign inviting women to take part in the Race for Life 2008 series held between May and July.

The two-month campaign launching this month comprises creative solutions, advertorials, display and online activity, and there will be teams from glossies Marie Claire and Essentials taking part in this year's Race for Life.

Marie Claire and Essentials' April issue will include a bound-in envelope featuring the line “If there's one thing you do this summer”. The envelope opens to reveal details of the race and the benefits of taking part.

Marie Claire's April and May issues will extend a page in the advice section, Guru, to feature Race for Life training tips, while Essentials will provide content for the official Race for Life website on ITV.com, including a blog about the team's training for the race.

In addition, half-page advertorials in women's weeklies Woman and Woman's Own will run throughout March and April and the magazines will point readers to this activity with quarter-page strips.

IPC Media will also highlight Race for Life 2008 to its employees through its intranet and company-wide email bulletin.

Beccie Duggan, IPC Southbank's acting head of creative solutions, says: “We're really pleased to be working Cancer Research UK to promote this year's Race for Life. It's a fantastic event and this campaign gives it real standout in the magazines.”

Natasha Woodford, Cancer Research UK's Head of Marketing for National Events, said: “This year we're hoping that 750,000 women will come together and help raise over £50 million for Cancer Research UK's vital work. In order to meet our target we need to reach as many women in the UK as possible and we're pleased to be working with IPC to help us do this.”
