DECANTER POPS THE CORK ON NEW LOOK!

October 4, 2006

Decanter New Look IPC Media's world-leading wine magazine, Decanter, is unveiling a sparkling design refresh with its November issue, on sale today.

Aimed to maintain the magazine's authoritative editorial mix of news, interviews, profiles and wine recommendations – whilst creating a fresher, cleaner and modern feel – the redesign encompasses a raft of changes to both design and content.

The design of the magazine has undergone a complete overhaul led by art editor Patrick Grabham and IPC Country & Leisure Media creative director Brett Lewis. New elements include a new, fresher, more contemporary front cover, the introduction of new fonts and a more creative use of photography.

The changes also include a complete redesign of the 28-page buying guide, doing away with the dark panels and introducing a lighter, fresher design making it easier for the reader to obtain the information they require. The features are more classical in design with easily accessible panels packed full of wine recommendations and advice.

The new-look Decanter also introduces a number of new experts, including new US correspondent and columnist Linda Murphy, formerly wine critic for the San Francisco Chronicle.

Acting editor Guy Woodward says: “Wine is a subject which our readers take very seriously. But it's also a hedonistic pastime to be approached with a sense of adventure. Hence the magazine needs to offer both authoritative, clear advice on how to get the best bottles, and also a passionate, evocative rendition of pure drinking pleasure.”

Publishing director Sarah Kemp says: “We are delighted with the new look of Decanter. The new design and improved photography offer great value which we are sure will attract new readers.”

The redesign issue of Decanter is on sale October 4, priced £3.60.
