IAN ABBOTT NAMED EDITOR OF TVTIMES

TVT18mar IPC tx managing director Philippa Brown today announces the appointment of Ian Abbott as editor of iconic TV weekly, TVTimes.

Ian's experience of the TV weeklies market, and of one of the UK's best-loved brands – TV Times, is second to none. Most recently he has been acting editor of TVTimes, prior to which he was deputy editor for three years. Ian started his career in newspapers before moving to magazines. He was part of the launch team of TV & Satellite Week and has also worked on new magazine development for two years.

Philippa says: “Ian is quite simply the perfect candidate for this prestigious role. As acting editor, and before that deputy editor, he knows the magazine, its hugely talented team, and its audience better than anyone. With TVTimes blossoming following its recent redesign, Ian's appointment is testament to how delighted we are with the New Look TV Times – well done Ian and the team!”

After major research and development, TVTimes launched an editorial refresh earlier this year, revealing a modern and vibrant new look, with a clear vision of what today's reader wants from their favourite television magazine. There's even greater emphasis on big star interviews, more soap coverage than any other TV weekly title, and the most easy to use digital listings for simpler navigation. TVTimes is positioned in the premium sector as a quality TV weekly magazine, popular with all the family.

Ian begins his new role on TVTimes on March 28.
