IPC IGNITE! ANNOUNCES RAFT OF SENIOR APPOINTMENTS

February 27, 2006

IPC ignite!, publisher of market-leading men's and music magazines and websites, today announces a raft of key management appointments.

Paul Cheal is named publishing director of music magazines NME and Uncut. Paul joins from IPC Country and Leisure Media, where he is currently publishing director of CALM's marine portfolio. Paul joined IPC as a publisher in 1999.

Ignite! managing director Tim Brooks comments: “Many publishers would give their right arm to have this job, and I did in fact receive numbers of body parts from hopeful candidates all over London. But Paul's proven track record of success at IPC, coupled with his passion for music, made him the obvious choice.”

Paul's appointment accompanies a restructuring of ignite!'s publishing portfolio into two groups, music and men's lifestyle. Eric Fuller, previously group publishing director for Nuts and NME, will be group publishing director for the men's lifestyle titles Nuts and Loaded.

Tim explains: “The two sectors we serve, music and male lifestyle, have different drivers, and it makes sense to align our publishing and sales teams accordingly.”

At the same time, ignite! group ad director Sam Finlay has promoted Andy Goldsmith to be display ad director, filling the vacancy created by Sam's own promotion last year. Andy has been at IPC for five years, and was previously ad manager for the ignite! weeklies, Nuts and NME. Olly Scull, who was ad manager for monthlies Loaded and Uncut, sees increased responsibilities as he will now be ad manager for the men's lifestyle portfolio, Nuts and Loaded.

In ignite! marketing, Clair Porteous is promoted to head of marketing for men's lifestyle, from group marketing manager. Nicola Woods is promoted from group PR manager to head of PR for ignite!, working across the entire portfolio.

Tim adds: “Clair has earned this promotion for the outstanding results she has delivered on Nuts and Loaded. And Nicola likewise has been doing an excellent job, securing record levels of coverage for our titles in consumer media. I am delighted we can recognise their contributions in this way.”

Andrew Sumner, formerly publishing director of Uncut, is now at IPC Connect as acting publishing director of Now, and will continue in that role for the foreseeable future.
