IPC Media today announces the development of the new strategy, new look and new staff structure for its award-winning women's website, beme.com.
The new strategy is borne out of a major research project conducted over
the last quarter to evaluate the site, its contents and to define the core
users. The refocused site is now specifically aimed at aged 20 - 35 ABC1
women, with a high disposable income, and includes channels which mirror their lifestyles and interests.
These new channels: Entertainment; News; Fashion & Beauty; Health, Body & Soul; Love, Sex & Friendships; and Travel & Shopping; are all accessed via the new-look homepage, which not only makes navigation easier but also allows quicker updating and the ability to showcase the range of content available on the site.
Commercial director Sarah Fitzgerald says: "Our strategic focus on this key
target audience includes the online development, though BEME, of two of our
major brands, firstly Marie Claire, followed by Now."
In line with the redevelopment of the site and its strategy, the editorial
team has also been restructured, with new channel teams now focused on the site's six core interests and the online brand developments..
Leading the editorial team, Eleni Kyriacou is promoted from head of content
to executive editor for the site, reporting to commercial director Sarah
Fitzgerald.
Sarah Fitzgerald says: "I am delighted that Eleni Kyriacou is promoted to
the position of executive editor. She brings to the role a powerful combination
of women's magazine and web experience. Recently Eleni has
played a critical role in the development of the BEME site and I am very
much looking forward to working with her on driving the business forward."
Eleni says: "The new design will help us to showcase the best content for
women on the net, updated at a pace that keeps up with women's lives. It's
a focused, quality offering that's funny, opinionated, stylish and direct."
The new look site goes live this week and can be found at beme.com
