NME Radio, the national commercial new music station, has seen a massive rise in its overall listening hours to 1.3 million – more than double the figure from the previous quarter.
NME Radio is available on Sky channel 0184, online at www.NME.com and with other platforms including DAB and mobile phone applications to follow shortly.
The station's 253,000 listeners are young – with 81% in its core 15-34 target demographic – and also upmarket, with 62% ABC1's.
Jason Bryant, executive chairman of NME Radio, says: “We are looking forward to building NME Radio into a significant national media business and these figures provide a solid base with a strong audience profile. NME Radio is the ideal media platform for national advertisers looking to reach an attractive young audience profile through a compelling and distinctive music radio proposition.”
Paul Cheal, publishing director of NME, comments: “This result strengthens our position as a multiplatform music media brand and plays a vital role in increasing our reach which is over one million people every week.”
NME Radio recently won a coveted gold Sony Radio Academy Award - the UK's most prestigious radio accolade - for its “groundbreaking concept and extremely fresh approach and sound.”
