NME UNVEILS NEW MUSIC TOUR LINEUP FOR 2006

March 14, 2006

NME's annual showcase of up-and-coming talent is back for another year and bigger and better than ever! The NME New Music Tour – which has given a leg up to The Ordinary Boys, The Zutons and Maximo Park in the last couple of years – is set to hit 14 UK cities this spring.

The tour will bring together four of the hottest and most inspiring new bands around – giving music lovers the chance to catch the next wave of stars in intimate venues before they're packing the stadiums.

Playing the tour are: Sheffield superstars-in-waiting The Long Blondes, fresh from picking up the Radar New Music Award at last month's NME Awards; Welsh teen sensations The Automatic; genre-defying punk-funksters Forward Russia! with hotly-tipped London rockers Boy Kill Boy headlining.

NME editor Conor McNicholas says: “This is the best line-up we've ever delivered for our New Music Tour so we're taking it bigger than ever before. Any of these bands could be headlining their own tour so to get them all on one bill is amazing. It's like a mini-festival and fantastic value for fans across the country. All the bands are really buzzing so expect some rock'n'roll moments along the way.”

NME publisher Tammi Iley adds: “It's fantastic to be unveiling this tour line up hot on the heels of the biggest and best NME Awards ever. The Awards tour put 61 of the very finest acts in front of over 70,000 music fans across 39 gigs - and the Awards themselves generated huge interest, as always. With this line-up NME more than maintains its credentials in setting the new music agenda.”
