WHAT'S ON TV – THE UK'S BIGGEST SELLING MAGAZINE – LAUNCHES ONLINE

October 24, 2006

WOTV Mobile Launch What's on TV, the UK's favourite TV weekly magazine, is launching whatsontv.co.uk, the UK's only website providing a comprehensive, trusted one-stop shop for all the biggest and best soaps and shows on TV.

Launching in January next year, the TV site will offer users a multi-channel TV listings guide, TV news and gossip, coverage of all the major soaps, previews of the day's must-see shows, and an in-depth TV film guide.

Philippa Brown, managing director of IPC tx, says: “We're delighted to be launching a website for What's on TV. Our readers are spending an increasing amount of time online so it makes perfect sense for us to extend the powerful and trusted What's on TV brand into the online world.”

The announcement of whatsontv.co.uk marks the third stage in What's on TV's digital strategy, following the magazine's launch of a mobile service and its partnership with Electra Entertainment, which extends the brand onto Freeview.

The What's on TV website will have a dedicated editorial team, headed up by What's on TV editor-in-chief Colin Tough. He says: “We're very excited about the launch of whatsontv.co.uk, which is going to be the online destination for the latest news and gossip on all the most popular shows and soaps on TV. Our readers will love it!”

The new website will be promoted with a print campaign across IPC Media's portfolio of TV weeklies and women's weeklies and a targeted online campaign.

Advertising for the new website will be handled by digital sales house ad 2-one and overseen by Kate Mackenzie, group advertising director, IPC Weeklies.
