IPC IGNITE AND CSC MEDIA TO LAUNCH NMETV,PUTTING GREAT MUSIC FIRST 24/7

November 20, 2007

NMETV IPC Ignite today unveils a major strategic partnership with CSC Media Group (formerly Chart Show Channels) to launch NMETV – the essential new 24/7 TV channel for real alternative music enthusiasts.

The channel, launching 23rd November 2007 on Sky Digital 377, will mean that NME's inimitable take on the new music scene will be available to around nine million households across the UK.

The channel will include:

  • A range of exclusive up-to-date charts, including the Club NME chart
  • Video-led programming on classic artists, as well as all the very best new bands NME is famous for championing
  • A music news service – breaking news on the hottest acts from the 24/7 NME newsroom
  • Exclusive interviews and footage – including material especially produced from NME's own award-winning tours, club nights and events across the UK and beyond
  • And of course, the very best music videos – often first-to-air

NMETV will be comprehensively cross-promoted with NME.COM and NME magazine, while advertising sales on the channel will be handled by specialist TV airtime sales and sponsorship house, Dolphin TV.

NME publishing director Paul Cheal, who has led the partnership development, says: “Launching a linear television channel is a major new development for the UK's leading alternative music brand. While NME.Com continues to rack up the awards, and the print brand continues to set new standards in content and marketing, NMETV will add an important new strand of content to our existing platforms.

“CSC is the perfect partner to launch NMETV – working together we'll ensure it is delivered with the passion, authority and attitude which makes NME so uniquely powerful and trusted across all platforms.”

CSC chief executive David Docherty adds: “We're excited about working with a brand as credible and of such wide appeal as NME. We've over 20 years of music broadcast experience and are proud that our channels are still growing in viewership and share. We're sure NMETV will be as popular and enjoy similar success.”
