From this month Virgin Atlantic passengers will be able to read and hear the UK's foremost music entertainment brand as the airline joins forces with NME to create several franchises across Virgin's in-flight entertainment and inflight magazine, Seatback.
Virgin Atlantic has teamed up with NME Radio for an exclusive show, presented by the radio station's afternoon host Iain Baker. The show will be packed full of the best new and alternative music and classic tracks from NME's heritage championing the most exciting rock'n'roll on the planet.
In Seatback magazine, NME reviews editor Hamish MacBain will be writing a monthly critique for the Rock & Alternative Album section. Kicking off in October with the CSS album Donkey, Hamish will select a recent release of his choice and review it exclusively for Virgin passengers. Seatback will also feature an exclusive NME competition, giving passengers the chance to win a pair of VIP access all areas passes to Club NME nights at one of London's premier live venues, KOKO.
From November, NME will also compile a monthly eight-track playlist, which will feature on the Playlist section of the airline's V:Port* inflight entertainment system. NME will be selecting its pick of the best in new music for Virgin Atlantic passengers to choose from.
NME's head of marketing Tim Pearson says: To us this deal represents a great partnership as we continue to expand into the North American market and beyond. Working with such a high profile partner means that a wider audience will get to read and hear the brilliant music currently coming out of NME's world."
Lysette Gauna, creative director for Virgin Atlantic, comments: It's great to be collaborating with such an iconic brand and we know our passengers are going to really enjoy the channel created by NME as well as checking out their choices in the NME playlist.
